Stress and Skincare

The past few months that I’ve been away have been the absolutely worst. I had barely 3 hours sleep a day. For someone who stress messes up her skin, you can imagine what I’ve been looking like.

Enough about me, let’s talk about… you (in Joe Goldberg’s voice).

We’ve all had stressful weeks or months. You’re so caught up with work or school, you forget to take care of your skin. You miss a day, 2 or 4, till you don’t care anymore.

Or maybe you still do your skincare routine but it seems not to work , you’re at that resistant state. You feel as though your skin simply doesn’t care.

Uh you really shouldn’t scrub morning and night but you get the joke 😂

So let me tell you about how I managed to cope with my stress and my skincare:

Don’t Stress about it

A key part of skin care is knowing what triggers your acne. In this case, it’s stress. Removing the trigger would make things easier but sometimes you can’t remove the trigger. You need to get that deal, you need to pass that examination. You can’t just get rid of stress. So just give in. Let your skin process the stress. It’s only for a while.

Be consistent

How can you keep up a skin care routine when your skin keeps getting worse? Yes, I know it’s hard but it will definitely pay off.

Do not use too many products

Your skin is going through a hard time. It’s really not in your best interest to use 10 products all at once. Keep your skin care simple and be consistent.

Drink lots and lots of water

Water is life, bestie. It’s not just great for your skin, it’s perfect for coping with your stress. It’s a win win, trust me.

Just Do you

Skin care is individualized care. Know what works for you and just do you.

Be kind to your skin

Pick a mirror, tell yourself that your skin will be fine when your stress is all over and it’s only a matter of time.

Here are some questions for you:

Have you been stressed lately?

How did you cope with your stress?

Does Stress affect your skin or are you God’s favorite?

Can you tell me about a time you had the worst stress induced break out?

Did you miss me while I was away? 🙈

Please don’t forget to drop a comment and share. Love you besties 💗

  1. I’ve missed reading from you!!! I have been stressed lately!! These past three weeks have been draining. I worked from 6am – 10pm for 21 days and let me tell you, it wasn’t funny. I was exposed to all the elements, so much that I had acne and dark skin. You need to see me now.. I’m not the baby girl I used to be but now I have all the time to take care of my skin. Also, a special appreciation goes to Snapchat filters because where would most of us be without them?

  2. Excellent Article! In relation to being kind to your skin- know your skin type before getting a skincare product, always hydrate(face steamers help). Create 10mins of your time each day for skincare.

  3. Sure,I did Kindie.❣️
    And Guess What?
I just found out my skin’s getting better.
I think Growing Up Has A Part to Play In This.
Then I Saw A Book In The Library Lately ” The Medically No Nonsense Beauty Book”.
It Really Open My Eyes To A Lot About Skincare.
So Right Now,I Simply Steam my Face ( call it ” sauna”, if You want😂),then Scrub Once a Week.
    It Works Perfectly for Me.

  4. Omo, I’ve never been so stressed like I was this past couple of weeks.
And of course my face acted up 😩
Honestly dunno how to cope, I’m scared of using products but also scared it’ll get worse if I don’t start using products now.
